One-time Super Eagles invitee Gift Orban has moved ahead of Victor Osimhen in the Turkish Süper Lig scoring chart, but the Amedspor forward could have a bigger target in sight as he looks to rewrite goalscoring history in Turkey.
The 24-year-old took his tally to 10 league goals in 11 appearances after scoring in Amedspor’s 4-3 defeat to Galatasaray yesterday. His second-half header put him ahead of Osimhen, who has nine goals for the Istanbul giants this season but missed the encounter through injury.
Orban’s impressive start has opened up an interesting comparison with his compatriot, who enjoyed a remarkable debut campaign in Turkey in the 2024/25 season.

Osimhen scored 26 Süper Lig goals in 30 appearances and finished as the division’s top scorer. He also registered 37 goals in 41 matches across all competitions, setting a new benchmark for a foreign player in a single Turkish season.
With the campaign still in its early stages, Orban has time to pursue two records set by the Galatasaray striker.
2 Victor Osimhen records Gift Orban can break
1. Osimhen’s 26-goal Süper Lig record
Osimhen’s 26 league goals in the 2024/25 season is the benchmark for a Nigerian player in a single Süper Lig season.
The former Napoli striker produced that return despite missing several matches during the campaign, finishing ahead of all other players in the competition’s scoring standings.
Orban has already scored 10 goals after 11 appearances for Amedspor, putting him in a strong position to challenge that figure.
He needs another 17 goals to finish with 27 and surpass Osimhen’s benchmark. His current scoring rate suggests he has made an encouraging start, although maintaining that consistency over an entire season will be the real test.
The Amedspor forward has also demonstrated his ability to score against established Turkish sides, finding the net against Galatasaray, Beşiktaş and Başakşehir among others.

2. Osimhen’s 37-goal Turkish football record
The more demanding target is Osimhen’s 37-goal haul across all competitions in his debut season.
His total included 26 Süper Lig goals, five in the Turkish Cup and six in the UEFA Europa League. The feat took him beyond Mario Jardel’s previous record of 34 goals to become the highest-scoring foreign player in a single Turkish season.
Gift Orban would need 28 more goals to reach 38 and claim that record outright.
However, this challenge comes with an important difference. Osimhen had the opportunity to play in European competition with Galatasaray, giving him additional matches in which to score. Orban’s opportunities with Amedspor will depend on the club’s domestic league and cup campaigns.
Nevertheless, his current form gives him a platform to pursue both milestones.

Orban has already moved ahead of Osimhen in this season’s Golden Boot race. Whether he can maintain that advantage and transform his early-season goals into a record-breaking campaign will be a story to watch out for as the season unfolds.
