The Super Eagles of Nigeria return to 2027 AFCON qualifying action tomorrow when they face Guinea-Bissau in their second Group L fixture, Afrik-Foot reports.

Eric Chelle’s side will travel to the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro in Bissau looking to build on their 2-1 comeback victory over Madagascar in Friday’s opening qualifier.

Guinea-Bissau also made a winning start to their campaign, defeating AFCON 2027 co-hosts Tanzania 2-0 away from home.

With Tanzania already guaranteed a place at the 2027 AFCON as one of the tournament’s co-hosts, Nigeria, Guinea-Bissau and Madagascar are competing for just one spot.

The Super Eagles will be hoping to claim another three points and take an early advantage in the race for qualification.

Chelle’s team currently have three points from their opening game, but Guinea-Bissau sit above Nigeria after also collecting maximum points while keeping a clean sheet against Tanzania.

The clash will also see Nigeria return to Guinea-Bissau, where the Super Eagles won 1-0 in their last meeting there during the qualifying campaign for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Super Eagles looking to strengthen Group L position

Nigeria go into Tuesday’s match with three points after their comeback against Madagascar, but Chelle will know that another difficult start could make the trip to Bissau considerably more challenging.

Guinea-Bissau, meanwhile, arrive with confidence after beating Tanzania 2-0 without conceding.

The Djurtus also have Mama Baldé in their ranks, with the Brest forward having scored against Tanzania and previously netted the only goal when Guinea-Bissau defeated Nigeria 1-0 in Abuja during the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

Nigeria will again be without Victor Osimhen, who is unavailable for both September qualifiers because of injury.

Ademola Lookman, Moses Simon, Moses Usor and the other attacking options in Chelle’s squad will therefore be expected to carry the goalscoring burden as Nigeria look to make it two wins from two.

A victory in Bissau would give the Super Eagles six points from their opening two matches and strengthen their position in a Group L race where only one of Nigeria, Guinea-Bissau and Madagascar can secure the remaining qualification place.
