Iwobi, Bassey subdued as meek Fulham surrender to visiting Palace

Super Eagles duo of Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey saw their hopes of qualifying for European next season dented as they lost 2-0 to Crystal Palace at Craven Cottage.

The two Nigerians were on from the start but could do little to prevent a rampant Palace side who scored in each half to claim all three points.

A Joachim Anderson own goal in the 37th set the tone for a woeful weekend for Fulham and their Nigerian stars.

It could have been worse for Fulham when Jean-Phillipe Mateta scored, but VAR came to their rescue, disallowing the goal.

Palace were not to be denied a second when Daniel Muñoz scored in the 66th minute as the visitors took all the three

While Bassey lasted the whole duration, Iwobi was substituted in the Rodrigo Muñoz in the 80th minute.

Bassey performance against Palace in numbers

Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey started the game and lasted the whole duration.

He made 107 touches to show how involved he was trying to ward off the Palace forwards, albeit it was unsuccessful.

Bassey put in three tackles in the game and made one clearance as his passing was also impressive, making 82 of the 95 passes he put in.

For duels, aerially, Bassey won five of the eight headers he attempted, while on the ground he won the only duel he went in for.
