Jamaica 0-3 Nigeria: Alhassan Yusuf brace lands Super Eagles 2026 Unity Cup title

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have claimed the 2026 Unity Cup title following an impressive 3–0 victory over Jamaica this past Saturday, Afrik-Foot reports.

The three-time African champions booked their place in the final after a 2–0 victory over Zimbabwe in their previous outing, while Jamaica secured their spot by defeating India.

Consequently, the final was anticipated to be a tightly contested affair. However, Chelle and his squad made light work of the challenge.

Nigeria displayed a lot of hunger from the opening whistle. Following their semi-final match, Chelle had publicly expressed concerns regarding his team’s lack of intensity; this time, however, the players performed with palpable purpose and vigor.

It took just three minutes for Nigeria to break the deadlock through an unlikely source: Yusuf. He pounced on a rebound following a save by Jamaican goalkeeper Coniah Boyce-Clarke, poking the ball home from close range to make it 1–0.

The Super Eagles dominated the remainder of the first half, offering the Reggae Boyz little room to maneuver.

Maintaining that momentum into the second half, Nigeria was rewarded with a second goal in the 59th minute—a direct result of their relentless high press.

After forcing a turnover deep in Jamaica’s half, Femi Azeez capitalized on a defensive mix-up, drove to the byline, and delivered a precise cross into the box. Captain for the day, Terem Moffi, rose to meet the delivery, nodding the ball into an empty net to extend the lead.

After scoring their second goal, the Super Eagles managed the game exceptionally well, limiting the number of attacking incursions the Jamaicans could mount against their backline.

Then, right on the 90th-minute mark, they added a final goal to their tally. The Super Eagles won the ball in their own half and launched a devastating fast break.

Despite being tightly marked, spotted Yusuf breaking free and slipped a perfectly weighted through ball into his path.

The New England Revolution star latched onto the pass and, despite intense pressure from a recovering defender, beautifully wrapped his foot around the ball. His brilliant curler struck the upright before nestling into the back of the net.

That goal ensured that Nigeria ran out with a 3-0 and sealed their status as the champions of the Unity Cup for 2026.

What Next For The Super Eagles?

With the Unity Cup signed, sealed, and delivered, the Super Eagles will now turn their attention to the international friendly games against Portugal and Poland next month.

Most of the players who were named in the Unity Cup squad were not included in the friendly games squad. Instead, Chelle invited his regulars.

The next camp is set to open in the upcoming week, and they will get to work immediately to ensure that they claim wins in those two games.
