Former West Ham United and Celtic centre-forward Frank McAvennie has described Kelechi Iheanacho as a ‘proper striker’, Afrik Foot reports.
The 29-year-old has spent the majority of his time with the Hoops on the sidelines, nursing a series of hamstring tears.
He recently returned with a bang, coming off the bench to score the winner against Dundee eleven days ago.

Frank McAvennie lauds Kelechi Iheanacho
Celtic are currently third on the SPFL table, two points behind Rangers and three points behind Hearts, with five league games left to play.
His injury problems have hampered his stability in the Hoops starting eleven, with coach Martin O’Neill still choosing to exercise restraint over the Nigerian.
Still, McAvennie believes the former Manchester City striker is vital to Celtic’s title hopes, should he remain fit.

“The big boy Tomas Cvancara can put himself about. But Celtic have always had flamboyance. I don’t think he’s going to score. He’ll get the odd goal.
“I like Kelechi Iheanacho because when he’s up to speed and up to fitness, he’s top. He’s a proper, proper striker,” the 66-year-old said in quotes revealed by the Scottish Sun.
“Rangers could win the league and Hearts are going to build.
“Celtic have to step it up. If they don’t, they are going to be left behind.”

Iheanacho’s contract with Celtic runs out at the end of the season, although there’s the option to extend for another year.
