Victor Osimhen and Galatasaray have three important lessons to learn from Barcelona’s 3-0 victory over Getafe ahead of their UEFA Champions League meeting on Tuesday.
Hansi Flick’s side continued their perfect start to the La Liga campaign with another commanding performance at the Spotify Camp Nou on Saturday evening.
Anthony Gordon opened the scoring in the second minute before Gabriel Jesus doubled Barcelona’s lead in the 30th minute. Jules Koundé completed the victory with a third goal in the 73rd minute.
Barcelona were dominant from start to finish, controlled possession with robotic ease, applied pressure that dazed Getafe and were as smooth as a seal in a wetsuit with their attacking movements.
If not anything, the Blaugrana’s display offers Galatasaray a glimpse of the challenge awaiting them in Istanbul.
Among other things, the Turkish champions will need a disciplined performance from the first whistle to the last to stand a chance against easily the best team on the continent at the moment.

Just as significantly, Osimhen’s movement and finishing would be a crucial deciding factor against a Barcelona side that likes to attack like no other.
Here are three lessons Galatasaray can learn from Getafe’s defeat.
1. Galatasaray must find a way to disrupt Barcelona’s possession
Barcelona controlled the game against Getafe, recording 83 per cent possession and completing 787 passes, per ESPN.
The champions’ ability to keep the ball made it difficult for Getafe to build attacks or relieve the pressure on their defence.
Galatasaray cannot afford to spend the entire match defending deep at RAMS Park. Sitting back for long periods would allow Barcelona to dictate the tempo and gradually wear down their opponents.
Okan Buruk’s side must press intelligently, close passing lanes and win second balls to prevent Flick’s players from settling into their rhythm.

Quick transitions will also be important, particularly when Barcelona commit several players forward.
2. Osimhen can punish Barcelona’s high defensive line
Barcelona’s attacking approach creates opportunities going forward but it can also leave space behind their defence.
That could give Osimhen, Nigeria’s top earner, an opportunity to exploit their high line with his pace, intelligent movement and ability to attack spaces between defenders.
The Nigerian striker returned to action after a groin injury and provided an assist against Kasımpaşa. His sharpness and fitness should hand Galatasaray encouragement ahead of the European encounter.
If he is fit enough to start, he could be Barcelona’s biggest nightmare should Galatasaray play to his strengths.
Galatasaray must move the ball forward quickly when they recover possession, using direct passes to release Osimhen before Barcelona’s defenders can recover their positions.

3. Defensive concentration must start from the first minute
Getafe’s task became harder after Gordon scored in the second minute. Barcelona could then dictate the game with an early advantage.
Galatasaray must avoid a similar mistake. Conceding early against a confident Barcelona side could force Buruk’s team to abandon its tactical plan and chase the match.
The Turkish giants need to remain compact, communicate effectively and avoid unnecessary turnovers in dangerous areas.
Against Barcelona, concentration cannot be occasional. Galatasaray must combine defensive discipline with the courage to attack if they want to give Osimhen and their other forwards a realistic chance of securing a positive result.
