Brighton & Hove Albion begin their 2026/2027 English Premier League Campaign in front of their fans at the Amex Stadium as they welcome Aston Villa to East Sussex, Afrik-Foot reports.

Since losing the UEFA Super Cup to Paris Saint-Germain over a week ago, Aston Villa have made some statement signings in the transfer market.

Unai Emery’s side have signed Zion Suzuki from Parma for £29.9m, and signed Aaron Wan-Bissaka on loan from West Ham United, although they retained the option to make the deal permanent.

Brighton have done smart business as well, bringing in Super Eagles invitee Zadok Yohanna from Swedish side AIK.

Brighton finished 8th in the Premier League last season, sealing European football for the second time in their history, while Aston Villa finished 4th, five points above Liverpool.

Aston Villa’s Europa League-winning squad has been decapitated, as several of those players have moved on.

Morgan Rogers was sold to Chelsea, Youri Tielemans joined Manchester United, Lucas Digne returned to Paris Saint-Germain, and Ezri Konsa recently completed a move to Arsenal.

Zadok Yohanna had a few minutes under his belt across the Seagulls’ pre-season games, and is named on the bench for the clash this afternoon.
