Michy Batshuayi has ignited an interesting discussion about the striking partnership at Galatasaray, offering his take on a potential pairing with Victor Osimhen.
In a recent interview, the Belgian forward made a bold claim regarding his technical abilities compared to Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen.
While both players are clearly key figures for Galatasaray, Batshuayi has expressed huge confidence in his skills.
On Saturday, Batshuayi played a vital role in Galatasaray’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Bodrum at Grey Beton Bodrum Stadium. He delivered the game-winning goal in the 54th minute, heading in a perfect cross from Dries Mertens.
Batshuayi reflects on his technical edge over Osimhen
This goal was Batshuayi’s sixth of the season, bringing his total tally in 18 appearances across all competitions to a notable level.
Meanwhile, Osimhen, who has been nothing short of prolific for his team, played the full 90 minutes but failed to find the back of the net.
The Nigerian striker has been in fine form this season, contributing eight goals and four assists in just ten appearances.
In the aftermath of Galatasaray’s victory, Batshuayi shared his thoughts on how he could fit into a double-striker role alongside Osimhen.
While praising Osimhen's aerial dominance and ability to hold off long balls, the Belgian boldly stated that he believes his technical abilities outshine Osimhen’s.
“Of course, I can play as a double forward or as a single forward. But when we look at it, Victor is good at long and aerial balls. I can also make deep runs.”
“I am technically better from my perspective. Of course, when you look at this, the coach's choice is important. We actually offer the coach the necessary options,” Michy told the club's website.
As Galatasaray continues to maintain the Super Lig top spot with 34 points from 12 matches, Batshuayi and Osimhen's partnership could be key moving forward, considering that Mauro Icardi is sidelined with injury.
