Muhamed Tijani: Hungarian club eyeing move for ex-Flying Eagles star

Published on by

Nigerian forward Muhamed Tijani is back in the headlines amid uncertainty surrounding his future ahead of the summer transfer window, Afrik-Foot reports.

The former Flying Eagles star is expected to return to parent club Slavia Prague following the end of his loan spell at Nyíregyháza Spartacus. Tijani joined Slavia Prague from Baník Ostrava in 2023, but struggled to break into the first team and has spent most of his time away from the club on loan.

He previously had loan spells at Plymouth Argyle and Sigma Olomouc before moving to Hungary during the January transfer window.

The Nigerian striker enjoyed an impressive spell at Nyíregyháza Spartacus, scoring eight goals in 15 league appearances to help the club avoid relegation.

Ujpest weighing up move for ex-Flying Eagles star Muhamed Tijani

With Tijani set to return to Slavia Prague where he appears to have no long-term future, his impressive performances in Hungary have attracted interest from several clubs, especially from Czech Republic and also from Hungary.

One of those clubs is Ujpest FC, who are seriously considering a move for the 25-year-old during the summer transfer window and are keen to beat other interested clubs to his signature.

According to reports, Ujpest have moved to the front of the queue for Tijani and are willing to negotiate a deal with Slavia Prague to bring the Nigerian striker back to Hungary next season. The club are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of next season as they aim to return to challenging for the league title and possibly win their first since 1998.

Slavia Prague are also open to selling the striker as they look to recover part of the fee paid for him. With Tijani still under contract until 2028, the Czech club remain in a strong negotiating position, although both sides are expected to work towards an agreement on a permanent transfer.

Meanwhile, Tijani is also open to a move as he seeks to finally end his difficult spell at Slavia Prague. His recent form in Hungary has shown he can thrive in the league and would need little time to settle if the transfer goes through in the summer.

A move to Ujpest could provide the fresh start his career needs, as he looks to rediscover the form that once made him one of Nigeria’s most promising young forwards. The 25-year-old will also hope his resurgent form can put him back in contention for a future Super Eagles call-up, having previously represented Nigeria at U20 level.
