The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) enters a crucial phase this weekend with Matchday 35 fixtures.
With just a few games left, the stakes are high, from the title race to the battle for continental spots and relegation survival.
Remo Stars remain top of the table. The Ikenne-based side hold a seven-point lead over Rivers United.

The race for continental qualification is still wide open. Rivers United, Abia Warriors, Ikorodu City, Rangers and Bendel Insurance are all in the mix.
At the bottom, Lobi Stars have been relegated while Sunshine Stars, Heartland and Akwa United currently sit in the danger zone.
However, with just a few points separating several teams, the standings could shift quickly depending on this weekend’s results.
Last weekend, we correctly predicted three outcomes.
Now, with Matchday 35 approaching, we return with fresh previews and predictions — as the season heads toward a thrilling finale.
NPFL Match day 35 selected predictions
Kano Pillars vs Rivers United – Kano
This fixture could define Rivers United’s season. The Pride of Rivers head to Kano, knowing that anything short of a win could hand the title initiative to Remo Stars.
Rivers United currently sit second with 58 points — seven behind Remo Stars. A loss in Kano and the title could start slipping out of reach with just four games left. Even a draw will only delay Remo’s potential coronation.
Kano Pillars, on the other hand, are ninth with 47 points and have little left to fight for — neither in danger of relegation nor in contention for a continental spot. But a home win would be a statement.
Prediction: Pillars to avoid defeat — home win or draw.
Akwa United vs Ikorodu City – Uyo
A true clash of contrasts. Akwa United are battling for survival while Ikorodu City are chasing continental dreams in their debut NPFL season.
The Uyo side must treat every game like a final now. But they face a ruthless Ikorodu attack — the Lagos-based side have scored a league-high 53 goals this season and are flying high near the top.
Even a win for Akwa won’t pull them out of the relegation zone yet, but it will be a step forward. For Ikorodu, three points will further their push for a top-three finish — an incredible achievement in their first season at this level.
Prediction: A tense draw on the cards.

Rangers vs Enyimba – Enugu
The Oriental Derby takes centre stage this weekend, and as always, it promises fireworks. Defending champions Rangers host Enyimba in what is arguably the headline clash of the round.
Last season’s edition had everything — on and off the pitch — and the tension remains high.
Rangers sit sixth, just four points off third-placed Ikorodu City. A win could push them closer to a continental slot. Enyimba, meanwhile, are far off the pace but would love nothing more than to spoil the party in Enugu.
The history, the rivalry, the pride — this derby rarely disappoints.
Prediction: Rangers edge it by a goal.
Remo Stars vs Niger Tornadoes – Ikenne
Top-of-the-table Remo Stars will be looking to take another giant stride towards their first-ever NPFL title as they welcome Niger Tornadoes to Ikenne.
Victory here, combined with a slip-up from Rivers United in Kano, could see the title sealed soon — possibly as early as next weekend.
Remo have been the most consistent side this season and boast one of the best home records. Tornadoes have shown they can be tricky on the road, but stopping Remo in Ikenne is a tall order.
Coach Mohammed Majin believes his side can pull off an upset, but it will take something special.
Prediction: Remo win by two goals.

Abia Warriors vs Shooting Stars – Umuahia
Abia Warriors have their eyes on continental football and will see this home tie against Shooting Stars as a must-win.
Both teams are looking to bounce back from defeats — Abia were hammered 5-1 by Katsina United, while Shooting Stars lost at home to Remo.
The Warriors are level on points with third-placed Ikorodu City, trailing only on goal difference. If Ikorodu stumble in Uyo, Abia could climb into the top three.
Shooting Stars, eighth on the log, still have pride and momentum to fight for — and they’ll want to crash the Umuahia party.
Prediction: Narrow home win for Abia Warriors.
