Nigerian youngster Prosper Obah has reflected on his performance for Shakhtar Donetsk following their dramatic 3-2 victory over Kryvbas KR on Sunday, Afrik-Foot reports.
The 22-year-old grabbed the headlines in a match that stretched over four hours due to air raid alerts and safety protocols in Ukraine. He came off the bench to score a superb brace, helping the Ukrainian champions seal a seventh consecutive league victory.
The Nigerian forward started the game among the substitutes but was introduced in place of Eguinaldo as the game progressed and completely changed the momentum of the encounter, taking his tally for the club to three goals since his arrival during the winter transfer window.
Lassina Traore opened the scoring three minutes before halftime and Obah doubled the advantage on the stroke of halftime after coming on earlier in the game. Kryvbas pulled one back through Gleiker Mendoza just after the hour mark, but the Super Eagles prospect restored Shakhtar’s cushion with his second goal in the 68th minute.

Yaroslav Shevchenko netted late in the 87th minute to set up a tense finish, but Shakhtar held on to claim all three points in their penultimate league match of the season.

Reacting after the game, the youngster praised his teammates for battling through difficult circumstances and admitted he was delighted to score twice for the first time in Shakhtar colours.
“Today was a good game, although a very difficult one. We traveled here for 16 hours, which is also not easy, but we played a solid match despite air raid alerts and other circumstances”, Obah said via Shakhtar Donetsk’s official website.
“We really fought on the pitch and are very happy that we managed to win. And I am very, very happy that I was able to score two good goals in this match. I’m truly happy about it!”
Obah attracting growing interest from England
Despite only joining Shakhtar Donetsk in January, Nigerian youngster Prosper Obah has already been linked with a possible summer exit following his rapid rise in Ukraine.
The young forward began the season at LNZ Cherkasy, before moving to Shakhtar and is open to continuing his development at the club for at least another season, despite growing interest from England.

However, with the summer transfer window still some distance away, he could eventually leave the Ukrainian league if interested clubs make concrete bids for his signature.
For now, Obah’s focus will be on ending the season strongly as Shakhtar Donetsk conclude their 2025-26 season against Kolos Kovalivka this weekend, before making a final decision on his future.
