Official: Olisa Ndah becomes fourth Nigerian at Stellenbosch FC after Orlando Pirates exit

Stellenbosch FC have officially confirmed the signing of Nigerian defender Olisa Ndah following his departure from Orlando Pirates, Afrik Foot reports.

The 28-year-old centre-back joins the Cape Winelands outfit on a free transfer after ending a four-and-a-half-year stay with the Soweto giants.

Ndah’s arrival makes him the fourth Nigerian player to represent Stellenbosch, joining Ibraheem Jabaar and Kazie Enyinnaya in the current squad, as well as former Maroons forward Stanley Dimgba.

The Super Eagles defender will wear the No. 99 shirt and could make his first appearance when Stellenbosch face Magesi FC in a Betway Premiership fixture at Danie Craven Stadium.

Stellenbosch add experience to defence

Stellenbosch chief executive Rob Benadie said the club were pleased to secure a player of Ndah’s profile and went on to talk about the careful approach taken in strengthening the squad.

“Olisa is a player with proven quality and experience at the highest level, and we are pleased to welcome him to Stellenbosch FC,” Benadie said. “We are deliberate in our recruitment strategy to ensure that every signing complements the group, and having had the chance to assess him closely, we are confident he will be a valuable addition to our squad.”

Ndah recently became a free agent after mutually parting ways with Orlando Pirates, where injuries restricted his involvement over the past year. Despite that setback, Stellenbosch moved to bring him in after monitoring his fitness and well-being.

Fresh spell after Orlando Pirates

The former Akwa United and Remo Stars defender joined Pirates in 2021 and quickly established himself as a regular in central defence, making over 80 appearances across all competitions.

During his time in Johannesburg, he lifted the MTN8 Cup three times and earned recognition as one of the league’s reliable defenders at his peak.

His move to Stellenbosch brings an end to weeks of speculation about his future, including reports linking him with clubs outside South Africa. Ndah will now look to relaunch his career in the Betway Premiership and provide experience and depth to Stellenbosch’s back line as they continue their campaign.
