Olisa Ndah to Al Shomooa: Breakdown of deal – Contract length, salary & Mamelodi Sundowns snub

Super Eagles defender Olisa Ndah has completed a move to Libyan Premier League side Al Shomooa SC, ending weeks of speculation over a potential Mamelodi Sundowns move, Afrik-Foot reports.

The 28-year-old centre-back arrived in South Africa in August 2021 when Orlando Pirates signed him from Akwa United, going on to make 81 competitive appearances and lift four pieces of silverware across four and a half seasons at Mayfair.

However, the second half of his Pirates spell was disrupted by a tibia and fibula fracture that cost him 130 days on the sidelines, and by January 2026 he had lost his place in the pecking order to Lebone Seema and Nkosinathi Sibisi, before the Buccaneers and Ndah parted ways by mutual consent.

Stellenbosch handed him an 18-month contract in February 2026, but a delay in securing his South African work permit restricted him to just seven appearances before the campaign ended, and his contract expired without a renewal offer.

In recent weeks, he had been linked with a move to Mamelodi Sundowns, with Miguel Cardoso believed to be keen on adding to his defensive options.

However, the move didn’t happen as the Brazilians had already filled up all of their spots for foreign players. As per Goal, Ndah has now joined Libyan side Al Shomooa SC.

Breakdown of Olisa Ndah’s transfer to Al Shomooa

Olisa Ndah is joining Al Shomooa on a free transfer, with his previous contract at Stellenbosch FC having expired at the end of the 2025/26 season.

The Libyan side will pay no fee for the Super Eagles centre-back, signing a one-year deal with the option to extend for another year, per FarPost. No salary details have been officially disclosed

The five-cap Super Eagles star will be looking to build his fitness with game time in his belt under coach Hocine Achiou, with hopes of making Eric Chelle’s squad for the AFCON 2027 qualifiers next month.
