Napoli star Victor Osimhen ranks third only behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima when it comes to the players the best goal-per-minute ratio in Serie A history.
This is according to statistics from sports data analysis firm Opta, which shows the players with the lowest minutes per goal on average since the Italian top flight entered the three-points-for-a-win era in the 1994/1995 season.
Osimhen joined Napoli from Ligue 1 side Lille four years ago and has since developed into one of the game’s finest forwards. The Nigeria international scored 10 goals in his debut Serie A season before following up with 14 in the next campaign.
The 25-year-old’s most productive spell came in 2022/23 when his 26 goals fired Napoli to the league title while making him the first African footballer to win the Golden Boot in the Serie A.
Victor Osimhen in exalted company of Serie A greats
Having found the back of the net 15 times last season, Osimhen has now taken his tally in the Italian league to 65 goals in 108 Serie A appearances. This translates to a goal in every 125 minutes, a ratio that is bettered only by the two Ronaldos.
Cristiano Ronaldo spent only three years in Italy after swapping Real Madrid for Juventus in 2018, but he had a sensational record of 81 goals in 98 Serie A matches. This puts him at the top of the list, with his goal ratio being one in every 104 minutes.
The Brazilian Ronaldo, who had spells with Inter Milan and AC Milan, comes in second place with a goal every 117 minutes after scoring 58 times in 88 matches. Christian Vieri and David Trezequet make up the top five in the goal-per-minute ranking.
