Paris FC 3-2 Le Havre: How Super Eagles star Moses Simon fared in vital Ligue 1 win

Published on by

Super Eagles winger Moses Simon put in a hard-working performance as Paris FC secured a vital 3-2 victory over Le Havre in Ligue 1 on Sunday, Afrik-Foot reports.

Playing from his usual position on the left wing, Simon was full of energy throughout the match. He made several forward runs, tracked back to help his defenders, and constantly tried to stretch the Le Havre backline.

However, despite his effort, the Nigerian international could not register a goal or an assist, meaning his run without a direct goal contribution has now stretched to 12 matches.

Paris FC started brightly and took control of the game early on. Their attacking intent paid off when Ciro Immobile found the net to give them the lead. The home side continued to push forward, and their pressure forced a mistake that led to an own goal from Ayumu Seko, putting them firmly in charge.

Le Havre, however, did not give up. They fought back strongly and scored twice to make it a tense contest. For a moment, it looked like Paris FC might lose control of the game. But Alimani Gory stepped up at a crucial time to score what proved to be the winning goal.

Moses Simon’s role in the victory may not show up clearly on the scoresheet, but his movement helped create space for his teammates. His manager, Antoine Kombouaré, had recently challenged him to improve his end product, and while that improvement was not fully visible in this match, his effort and discipline remained important to the team’s overall performance.

The result lifted Paris FC further away from danger in the league table and extended their unbeaten run to five matches, showing signs of growing confidence as the season progresses.

Comparing Moses Simon’s Paris FC form to his Nantes peak

While Moses Simon continues to work hard for Paris FC, his numbers this season are clearly below the level he reached during his final year at FC Nantes.

So far this season, he has scored three goals and provided two assists in 23 appearances. These are modest numbers for a player known for his attacking quality.

In contrast, last season at Nantes, Simon was one of the most dangerous wingers in the league. He scored 8 goals and provided 10 assists in 32 matches, making him a key creative force for his team.

The difference is clear when looking at how often he contributes to goals. At Nantes, Simon was involved in a goal roughly every 145 minutes. At Paris FC, that figure has dropped significantly to around every 306 minutes. This shows a clear decline in his attacking output.

One of the biggest changes has been his creativity. At Nantes, Simon regularly created chances and set up teammates, finishing with double-digit assists. At Paris FC, he has only managed two assists so far, suggesting he is either playing a different role or struggling to find the same rhythm.

However, not everything is negative. Simon’s work rate remains very high. He continues to run tirelessly, deliver crosses, and help his team both in attack and defence. In many games, including this win over Le Havre, he has been one of the most active players on the pitch.

Interestingly, this dip in form is not entirely new. During the 2023–24 season at Nantes, Simon also had a slow period before exploding into top form the following year. This could give Paris FC hope that he might still rediscover his best level before the end of the current campaign.
