Poland vs Nigeria: Atalanta star Zalewski reveals 2 traits that make Super Eagles dangerous

Published on by

The Super Eagles’ next challenge is Poland vs Nigeria, and the team will be looking to claim victory and continue their fine form.

Afrik-foot reports that the three-time African champions enter this encounter in excellent form, having won their last two matches to clinch the Unity Cup.

While the squad that secured that trophy was primarily made up of emerging talents and non-regulars, the team for the upcoming fixtures has the senior stars like Paul Onuachu, Calvin Bassey, and Alex Iwobi.

Poland, meanwhile, boasts a formidable roster of their own, featuring household names such as Robert Lewandowski, Nicola Zalewski, Piotr Zieliński, and Matty Cash.

Given the quality on both sides, the tie appears balanced on paper, though it arguably tilts slightly in favor of the Biało-czerwoni due to their home advantage. Nonetheless, Atalanta star Nicola Zalewski has admitted that the hosts are wary of the threat Nigeria poses.

Speaking to the Polish media on Tuesday afternoon, Zalewski acknowledged that his team is well aware of the Super Eagles’ physical prowess and speed.

”I am aware that Lookman and Osimhen are not here, but I still believe Nigeria is a very, very good team,” Zalewski stated.

“They are physically strong and very, very fast. We have to be careful, as I expect this to be a demanding match.

Recall that Poland enter this game on the back of a 2-0 loss to Ukraine. So they are looking to appease their home fans with a win against the Super Eagles.

“Against Ukraine, we didn’t perform as well as we wanted. We had opportunities to score early on, but we didn’t capitalize. Tomorrow, we need to show that we can win these types of games,” the Atalanta star added.

This match marks the first meeting between the two nations since 2018. The last time they faced off in Wrocław, the Super Eagles claimed a 1-0 victory. Heading into Warsaw, Nigeria will be looking to replicate that feat and secure another memorable win.
