Some of the world’s biggest football stars will descend upon Nigeria for the annual CAF Awards in October, Afrik-Foot reports.
Every year, CAF honors the best footballers on the continent for their performances over the past year for both club and country.
This year, that tradition continues. As is customary, the ceremony is hosted in different countries across the continent.

The last time Nigeria hosted the awards was in January 2017, when Asisat Oshoala won the women’s category while Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez won the men’s category.
Since then, the ceremony has traveled to Egypt, Ghana, and Morocco. However, the awards are now set to return to the most populous Black nation on Earth—Nigeria.

Additionally, Nigeria will host the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly in October. This is a significant gathering of CAF’s 54 member associations.
This was confirmed via an official release on Tuesday afternoon.
“The President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, has approved Nigeria’s proposed hosting of the 48th Ordinary General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football, as well as this year’s CAF Awards Ceremony,” the statement wrote.
The CAF Awards is one of the continent’s major spectacles and is sure to attract some of the biggest names in the African football fraternity.
Real Madrid star Brahim Diaz will likely make the cut following his heroics at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with Morocco, where he registered five goals in seven games.

Mohamed Salah could also be among the nominees for leading Egypt to a fourth-place finish at the AFCON. Furthermore, PSG star Achraf Hakimi will be hoping to win for a second consecutive time following his impressive form for both club and country.
Nigeria will certainly not be left out, as Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman have both had brilliant campaigns at the club level. They also helped the Super Eagles secure a bronze-medal finish at the AFCON.
