Benin coach Gernot Rohr has highlighted a critical advantage that the Super Eagles hold over his side in the race for a spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
While Nigeria continues to lead Group D with confidence, Rohr points to one distinct advantage that has kept the Super Eagles firmly at the top.
As the qualifiers approach matchday five, Nigeria holds a solid ten points, while Benin trails with six, followed closely by Rwanda with five.

The Super Eagles have been unbeaten in their four outings, securing three wins and a draw, while Benin has faced two defeats in the same number of games.
Rohr on Super Eagles homeground privilege
A significant hurdle for Benin has been the lack of a true home advantage.
With CAF deeming their stadiums unfit, Benin has been forced to adopt the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, as their temporary home ground.
In a recent interview, Rohr, who was quoted by Mega Sports, disclosed how Nigeria and Rwanda have benefitted from playing on home turf in Group D, giving them a significant upper hand.

“In our group, the three countries that are with us have all had the chance to be able to play at home. It's not like us who have to go to neutral ground. Up until now, it has given us the chance to play in Abidjan, and we will want to continue,” Rohr said.
Rohr expressed that despite these setbacks, his team is determined to advance and will prepare rigorously for their crucial upcoming games, including the final showdown in Tripoli, Libya.
With players in form at their respective clubs, the Cheetahs are aiming to overcome the odds.
