The Super Eagles' upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda will see the Amavubi led by a new head coach, Adel Amrouche.
The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) announced the Algerian tactician’s appointment on Sunday, confirming he will take over from German coach Thorsten Spittler.

Amrouche, 56, brings extensive experience, having recently managed Tanzania at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
Over his career, he has coached several African national teams, including Burundi, Kenya, Libya, and Botswana.
Amrouche's first test will be against the Super Eagles
His first assignment with Rwanda will be a crucial test against the Super Eagles on Friday, March 21, at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.
The Amavubi currently top Group C with seven points, four ahead of Nigeria, making this clash a pivotal fixture in the qualifying campaign for the Super Eagles.
The experienced coach will be assisted by former Rwanda captain Eric Nshimiyimana and Dr. Carolin Braun as the second assistant coach.
Amrouche also holds a UEFA Trainer Licence and has previously coached club sides in Belgium and Africa.

It remains to be seen whether he will continue in that capacity or fully commit to Rwanda’s World Cup qualification push.
The Super Eagles will face the Amavubi on March 21 before facing Zimbabwe on March 25 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
With Amrouche at the helm, Rwanda will be determined to maintain their top spot in the group, while the Super Eagles will be desperate to revive their qualification hopes with a win against the Algerian in his first official game in-charge of Rwanda.
