Ryan Alebiosu: Blackburn make transfer decision on Super Eagles star wanted by Everton, Genoa

Published on by

Blackburn Rovers have made a transfer decision regarding Nigeria international Ryan Alebiosu barely one year after the Arsenal academy graduate joined the club, Afrik-Foot reports.

The Riversiders are reportedly ready to listen to offers for Nigerian defender Ryan Alebiosu after the Super Eagles right-back enjoyed an impressive first season at Ewood Park.

The Championship side are expected to receive interest during the summer transfer window following Alebiosu’s rise into one of the club’s most reliable performers during the 2025-26 campaign.

According to reports from England, Blackburn are now willing to consider serious offers after previously rejecting approaches during the January transfer window.

Alebiosu became a key figure for Blackburn at a difficult stage of the season as the club battled to stay clear of relegation danger in the Championship. The Nigerian defender featured regularly on the right side of defence and produced several important displays during the closing months of the campaign.

The 24-year-old combined strong defensive work with attacking quality down the flank. He finished the league season with one goal and five assists in 39 Championship appearances.

One of the standout moments of his season came in October 2025 when he scored his first Blackburn goal against Southampton. His pace, crossing ability and energy quickly made him one of the first names on the team sheet.

Reports suggest that Everton and Italian side Genoa are among the clubs closely monitoring his situation ahead of next season. Blackburn are understood to see the defender as one of their most valuable assets after his market value increased significantly during the campaign.

Even so, the Lancashire club are not under immediate pressure to sell.

Alebiosu still has two years remaining on the three-year contract he signed after arriving from Belgian club KV Kortrijk in July 2025. Because of that contract situation, Blackburn would likely demand a substantial fee before allowing him to leave.

Ryan Alebiosu: From Arsenal prospect to Super Eagles star

Alebiosu’s journey to becoming a Championship regular has taken him across England, Scotland and Belgium.

Born in London, he joined Arsenal at the age of eight and spent a decade developing in the club’s famous Hale End academy. During his time in north London, he progressed through the youth ranks alongside players including Bukayo Saka. Arsenal rewarded his progress with a first professional contract in August 2020, but senior opportunities at the Premier League club proved difficult to secure.

His first experience of professional football came in January 2022 when he joined Crewe Alexandra FC on loan. Alebiosu made his senior debut on February 1, gaining valuable experience in English football’s lower divisions.

The defender then moved to Scotland for the 2022-23 season with Kilmarnock, where he made 29 appearances and showed his versatility as both a right-back and wing-back. His performances in Scotland convinced Kortrijk to sign him permanently after he left Arsenal in September 2023.

After spending time in Belgium and a brief loan spell at St Mirren, Alebiosu returned to England with Blackburn and quickly established himself in the Championship.

Internationally, the defender also made a major career decision by choosing to represent Nigeria despite being born in England. After obtaining his Nigerian passport in late 2025, he made his senior debut for the Super Eagles during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in a 3-1 victory against Uganda.

Now, after a breakthrough year in the Championship, Alebiosu heads into the summer transfer window as one of Blackburn’s most valuable players, with interest building from both England and Italy.
