Sadiq Umar spearheads Valencia’s relegation fight with a goal against Levante

Super Eagles and Valencia striker Sadiq Umar came off the bench to score his side’s second goal as they sealed a 2-0 win over Levante in the La Liga, Afrik Foot reports.

Carlos Corberan’s side had lost three straight games before their trip to Estadio Ciudad de Valencia tonight, and were languishing in the relegation places.

However, a win or nothing would do for them against Levante, and they took all three points, heading out of the relegation zone into 14th position.

Valencia seal 2-0 win over Levante

Following an underwhelming first-half performance, Valencia coach Carlos Corberan sent Umar Sadiq on to replace Hugo Duro in the 58th minute, and the decision bore fruit.

Six minutes later, Largie Ramazani broke the deadlock. Umar Sadiq’s backheel pass found Luis Rioja on the edge of Levante’s box.

Rioja then played a ball into Razamani’s path. The Belgian midfielder cushioned the ball with his left foot before unleashing a half-volley into Mathew Ryan’s goal.

Sadiq Umar scores first league goal for Valencia

Since joining Valencia permanently from Real Sociedad in the winter transfer window, the former Rangers man hadn’t scored a goal in the league for his new side.

Sadiq’s goal came in the 84th minute. Javier Guerra’s clearance freed up space for the Nigerian attacker to tussle with a Levante defender.

He put his strength to good use before keeping his composure to put the ball into the top corner.

Up next for Los Che is a clash against a third placed Villareal, away from the Mestalla Stadium.
