Ex-Nigeria U-20 star has ‘Ferrari engine’ but weak chassis

Yira Sor, the talented former Flying Eagles star and Genk winger, is sidelined once again due to injury, as confirmed by head coach Thorsten Fink.

The former Nigeria youth international picked up an injury during Genk's recent victory over KAA Gent, limiting his time on the pitch to just 10 minutes as he made a brief appearance as a substitute.

Fortunately, a recent medical assessment revealed that Sor has not sustained any major damage to his abdominal muscles or adductors.

However, his dynamic playing style necessitates a focused strength training program to ensure his body can cope with the demands of the game.

Sor injury update: Nigerian star's return delayed as Genk faces Antwerp test

Due to this latest setback, Yira Sor will miss Genk's upcoming Belgian Pro League match against Royal Antwerp.

His expected return to action is set for after the international break, with a targeted comeback against Sporting Charleroi on November 23.

This marks a frustrating period for the winger, who had only recently returned to the squad after a lengthy absence of over three months due to previous injuries.

According to Gent coach Thorsten Fink, who was quoted by Het Belang van Limburg,

“Yira Sor will still be missing on Sunday. A scan showed that he did not suffer major damage in the area of the abdominal muscles and adductor muscles.

However, the Nigerian is so explosive that his body must be strengthened to tolerate everything.

He has the engine of a Ferrari, but the bodywork needs to be more solid.

Sor will be trained through a specific program; he may be available again for the home match against Charleroi after the short international break on November 23.”
