Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa made a triumphant return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Sunday, scoring twice to lead Kano Pillars to a 2-0 victory over Sunshine Stars at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.
In an encounter that marked the beginning of his third stint at the club, Musa left no doubt that he’s back to make a statement; that class is permanent.
Musa’s first goal came just five minutes into the game. His second goal followed shortly after the second half resumed, finding the net just six minutes in to secure a comfortable lead for the home side.
Ahmed Musa's leadership sparks hope for Kano Pillars' campaign
Despite missing a chance to complete his hat-trick after hitting the woodwork from the penalty spot, Ahmed Musa’s inspiring return helped the Kano Pillars claim their second win of the NPFL season.
His energetic display and clinical finishing have reignited hopes of a successful campaign for Pillars, who now look to build on this momentum.
Shortly after the match, Musa took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express his gratitude to Kano Pillars management, his teammates, and the fans for their massive support.
“Back in familiar colours, and it feels so good! Grateful to the entire backroom staff, my teammates, and the management of Kano Pillars FC for believing in me and giving me this opportunity to return.
“To the amazing supporters and everyone who came out to watch, thank you for the love and energy,” Musa wrote on his social media page.
The Nigeria international confidently noted that his two goals against Sunshine Star are just a show of what is to come moving forward.
“Scoring two goals and earning that penalty was just the start—we've got a lot more coming! This is only the beginning,” Musa added.
