Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu was the hero for Trabzonspor last night in the Turkish Cup final against Konyaspor, Afrik Foot reports.

The 31-year-old scored a brace for Fatih Tekke’s side, either side of Jackson Muleka’s strike, gifting Trabzonspor their first title since 2023.

The double against Konyaspor brought the Nigerian’s goal tally to 24 in 36 club games across all competitions.

Onuachu’s words after winning the Turkish Cup with Trabzonspor

In his final club game of the season, the former Southampton striker revealed the long season had fatigued him, but he was glad to end it with silverware.

“It’s been a long season, I’m very happy to end it with a cup. We fought so hard, and I think we deserved to win the cup. Right now, I’m just very tired,” Paul Onuachu said in an interview with ATV.

“Last time I was here on loan, we were close to winning the cup but we lost it.

“However this time, the boy sknew what was at stake, knew what the fans and the City of Trabzon wanted and played like it on the pitch.

“All the goals I scored gave Trabzonspor a lot of points and it was very important for the position we ended up.

“My teammates helped me and contributed a lot as well,” Onuachu concluded.

Despite having a contract with Trabzonspor until the end of the season, Onuachu might not be with the Turkish side for much longer, as he’s caught the eye of other European clubs.
