Super Eagles front 4 for AFCON 2025 assault picks itself

Samuel Chukwueze’s fine form in Fulham’s dramatic 5-4 loss to Manchester City at Craven Cottage on Tuesday night has given both club and country reason for optimism.

Coming off the bench, the Super Eagles winger struck twice to open his Premier League account, adding to the two assists he had already accumulated in the previous two games.

The Nigerian’s influence extended beyond goals, lifting his teammates and injecting urgency into Fulham’s attack, even as City held on for the win.

Fulham head coach Marco Silva was quick to praise his loanee, highlighting Chukwueze’s intelligence and versatility. “He’s already making an impact. Last Saturday, he did it,” Silva said, before adding, “Chukwu is just showing his quality; he has quality on the right and on the left. He can make the right decisions as well.

“He’s getting better and better. Unfortunately, we’re going to lose him in 15 days’ time… but till then we have to get the best from him.”

Super Eagles’ attacking options ready to spark redemption at AFCON

The Super Eagles are drawn in Group C alongside Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda in Morocco.

Having lost the last AFCON final and missed out on back-to-back World Cups, Nigeria enters the tournament with a strong motivation to make amends and deliver a title to their fans.

Samuel Chukwueze, in blazing form at Fulham, provides creativity and goal threat, while Alex Iwobi, also finding rhythm at club level, adds experience and balance. Ademola Lookman, flourishing in Atalanta under Raffaele Palladino, brings pace and versatility on the flanks. Together, they form a sharp, in-form trio ready to operate behind Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen’s fitness remains a concern, which makes the timing of these three attackers’ peak form even more crucial. Their current performances give head coach Eric Chelle tactical flexibility and the opportunity to field an attacking unit capable of carrying Nigeria’s hopes.

With this combination, the Super Eagles could turn Group C into a platform for redemption and position themselves as serious contenders for AFCON 2025 glory.
