‘That’s football’ – Super Eagles goalkeeper weighs in on Udinese six-goal thriller vs Lazio

Super Eagles and Udinese goalkeeper was left disappointed after his side dropped points against Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio last night, Afrik Foot reports.

The 26-year-old started his 16th straight Serie A game at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, but didn’t have a stellar performance, raking in a 5.1 rating on Fotmob.

Udinese surrendered the lead twice, as Daniel Maldini’s strike confirmed they’d go home without three points.

A victory against Lazio would’ve catapulted the Bianconeri into the top half of the Italian top-flight league, but it wasn’t to be.

“Now the feeling is more than losing two points, but already tomorrow we will realize that we have earned an important point at home to Lazio, which is not easy,” the former Watford goalkeeper said in quotes revealed by Udinese’s official website.

“Now we’re disappointed, but we have to move on. That’s football, we’ve been both under and in the lead, too bad for the goal taken at the end.

“It was a good match for the spectators. In the next few days we will see where we need to improve,” the Germany-born Nigerian goalkeeper concluded.

Udinese head coach Kosta Runjaic also weighed in on the six-goal thriller, claiming it’s not a usual experience in modern-day Serie A.

“Everything is possible in football. We had a very good level in the first half. Maybe even a little too calm, we could have been more aggresive but against Lazio it is not easy because they are strong and organized.

As a coach I am not 100% happy but if you draw away with Lazio and you are not fully satisfied it is a good sign.

Six goals in a game are not common in Serie A, I think the fans and those who saw the clash on TV had a good time,” the German tactician concluded.

With four league games left until the end of the season, Udinese can still finish in the top half of the table, although the maximum position would be 7th if they win all four.
