Super Eagles midfielder is Milan’s plan to replace Man City-bound Reijnders

AC Milan will look to the Super Eagles as they prepare for life without midfield general Tijjani Reijnders.

The Rossoneri are resigned to losing the Netherlands international this summer, with a move to Manchester City all but agreed. Attention will now turn to replacing the impact and function of the 26-year-old, who was voted Serie A midfielder of the 2024/25 season.

According to a report in Gazzetta dello Sport, their candidate is Raphael Onyedika.

Onyedika: Can Super Eagles maestro replace Reijnders?

Club Brugge’s Onyedika was a shining light for the club, particularly in European competition where the Belgian side reached the Round of 16 of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League.

The Super Eagles midfielder is believed to be Milan’s choice if a deal for France international Adrien Rabiot does not materialise. In that eventuality, the 24-year-old would then join alongside teammate Maxime de Cuyper, who is expected to take the place of club favourite Theo Hernandez at left-back.

Onyedika, who made 52 appearances for Club Brugge this past season, has also been linked with a transfer to Premier League outfit West Ham.
