Super Eagles midfielder wins Player of the Month award in Belgium

Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika has been voted Club Brugge’s Player of the Month for September after delivering stellar performances for the Belgian side.

The 23-year-old midfielder was in imperious form throughout the month, helping to anchor the team's midfield both domestically and in Europe.

Onyedika, who was the subject of a transfer bid from Turkey in the last window, responded in the best possible way by putting in commanding displays.

His impressive form earned him the recognition of the fans, who voted him as the club’s best player for September in a poll that garnered 1,559 votes.

During the month, Onyedika played 234 minutes across four games in Belgium's top-flight Jupiler Pro League. He was integral in victories over Cercle Brugge (3-0) and KV Kortrijk (3-0), while also playing significant roles in the 4-2 home defeat to KAA Gent and a 1-1 draw with Charleroi.

His consistent performances have helped Club Brugge secure fourth place in the league standings with 14 points from nine games.

Fans were particularly impressed with his commanding presence in the centre of the park, where he controlled the tempo of matches and broke up opposition play.

Super Eagles maestro gets fans vote

His ability to lead by example made him a clear favourite for the Player of the Month accolade.

With his current form, Onyedika will be looking to build on this success as Club Brugge aim to maintain their momentum in the league and in Europe.

He is also expected to be named in Nigeria's squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations double-header against Libya.
