Super Eagles: Has Nnadi reacted to getting no minutes at Olympique Marseille?

Published on by

Super Eagles midfielder, Tochukwu Nnadi, has had a quiet start in France, has begun to raise eyebrows after the Nigerian midfielder was again absent from action for Olympique Marseille, Afrik Foot reports.

Signed during the winter transfer window as a surprise addition, the 22-year-old has yet to appear in a matchday squad, despite being the club’s biggest investment of the window.

Nnadi joined Marseille from Zulte Waregem on 2 February in a deal reported to be worth around €6 million.

Endorsed to shine at the club by ex-Marseille player Wilson Oruma. Yet, three weeks on, he is still waiting for his debut while Marseille continue to battle instability both on and off the pitch.

What has Tochukwu Nnadi said about his situation?

Officially, Nnadi has not spoken publicly about his lack of minutes since arriving in France.

However, his social media activity has caught attention. The midfielder recently posted an enigmatic image on Snapchat showing a lone child standing on a rooftop at night, without any caption or explanation.

The post has been widely interpreted by fans as a possible sign of frustration, though no direct message accompanied it. With no formal statement from the player or the club, it remains unclear whether the image reflects disappointment or simply a personal moment shared online.

Why Marseille may be holding the Super Eagles player back

Marseille’s coaching staff are understood to be taking a cautious approach with Nnadi’s integration.

According to French reports, his exclusion from matchday squads has not been disciplinary. Instead, it is linked to his age and the difficult environment at the club, which has seen managerial uncertainty and poor results in recent weeks.

With experienced midfielders already trusted ahead of him, Nnadi is being viewed as a player for the future rather than an immediate solution.

Former coach Roberto De Zerbi and the interim setups that followed did not rush him into action, while new boss Habib Beye is expected to decide when the timing is right to hand him his chance.
