Victor Osimhen Update

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been on the sidelines for the last few weeks due to a muscle injury which he sustained in Galatasaray’s Turkish Super Lig game against Istanbul Basaksehir a month ago.
That also saw him miss the international break with the Super Eagles. However, the 27-year-old has now returned to training at his club.
But his situation is still a tricky one, as since Osimhen is not yet 100 percent, he might not start for the Cimbom against Kasimpasa this weekend. They also have Barcelona in front of them in the UEFA Champions League. Coach Okan Buruk might have to prioritize here.
Nigeria’s FIFA Ranking

The international break is already done, and World football governing body FIFA have confirmed their latest rankings.
Nigeria has fallen four places from 26 to 30 in the rankings. Of course, this slip was due to their 3-0 loss to Guinea-Bissau and their 3-3 draw against Russia. They did defeat Madagascar 2-1 though, but apparently, that did not help their case much.
With this slip, the Super Eagles are now the sixth-best African team according to the FIFA rankings. They are behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, and Ivory Coast. Spain remain number one in the world.

The Super Falcons take on Comoros in their first game of the 2028 Olympics qualifiers on Friday, and their preparations are ramping up.
The ladies have been training in Ikenne, at the Remo Stars Stadium, with Augustine Eguavoen leading the team as the interim coach.

Nigeria go into the fixture as massive favourites given their pedigree and superior talent. But one thing that is clear this year is the fact that the Super Falcons can bleed. So Comoros will have some confidence going into the fixture.
