The Super Eagles of Nigeria played a 2-2 draw against the Biało-czerwon of Poland at Stadion Narodowy in Warsaw, with Maduka Okoye having a solid display, Afrik Foot reports.
Eric Chelle named a relatively new lineup against Jan Urban’s side, handing a debut appearance to Banik Ostrava wing-back Abdullahi Bewene. Igoh Ogbu, Tochukwu Nnadi and Terem Moffi were the three players who continued from the starters in the Unity Cup final win against Jamaica.
Terem Moffi scored the opener in the 23rd minute before Kacper Potulski pulled one back for the Poles on the stroke of half-time.
A penalty kick goal from Paul Onuachu put Nigeria in pole position to finish as winners before Przemyslaw Wisniewski’s long-range strike on the stroke of full-time ensured both sides would share the spoils.

How the Super Eagles defeated Poland in Warsaw
The game got off to a pretty even start before the Super Eagles asserted their dominance against a very physical Poland side.
Tochukwu Nnadi was the architect behind the first goal. The Marseille midfielder initiated some intricate passes to confuse the Polish backline before Moses Simon played the final ball in behind for Terem Moffi to tap home.

The linesman’s flag was immediately raised for an offside, but upon the intervention of the Video Assistant Referees, Moffi was judged to have been onside.

Robert Lewandowski struggled to physically outduel the duo of Igoh Ogbu and Emmanuel Fernandez in the first half.
Poland levelled the scores just before the half-time whistle went. A corner kick missed everyone in the box before falling to Nicola Zalewski.
The Atalanta man squared the ball back into the box, and luckily, Kacper Potulski stuck a leg out to tap home.

At the start of the second half, Eric Chelle took Bruno Onyemaechi, Emmanuel Fernandez, Igoh Ogbu, Frank Onyeka, Tochukwu Nnadi, Terem Moffi and Akor Adams out.
He then brought on Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Zaidu Sanusi, Raphael Onyedika, Paul Onuachu, Rafiu Durosinmi, and Philip Otele.
Robert Lewandowski came close to scoring his 90th goal for Poland after a misplaced pass from Zaidu Sanusi fell straight to the 10-time Bundesliga winner, but his effort was stopped by Maduka Okoye.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru came on much later to replace Moses Simon in the second half, but it was the corner kick of the Lazio midfielder that led to Nigeria’s second goal.
The set-piece was cleared, but Wilfred Ndidi controlled the ball onto Kacper Kozlowski’s arm. While there were no protests, VAR intervened again, and Romanian referee Marian Barbu was told to look at the screen. Upon doing so, he pointed to the spot.

Paul Onuachu, the Turkish Super Lig golden boot winner, dispatched the penalty, sending Kamil Grabara the wrong way.

Robert Lewandowski came close to scoring again in the 85th minute. A brilliant free-kick delivery from Kaminski found the former Barcelona striker in behind Nigeria’s defence, but his attempt was denied by Okoye, who made a double save to keep the game in favour of the Super Eagles.
Chelle’s men thought they were home and dry before a long-range strike from Widzew Łódź defender Przemyslaw Wisniewski found the top corner of Maduka Okoye’s goal.

The swerving effort would’ve had to be met by an equally stunning save to have been kept out, but it came just as the referee blew the final whistle, giving Nigeria no chance to bounce back after taking the lead twice.
Up next for the Super Eagles is their friendly against Portugal. Kick-off is scheduled for 8:45 PM WAT on the 10th of June.
