Super Eagles star hungry for three points in must-win clash against Sheffield Wednesday

Super Eagles and Hull City defender Semi Ajayi has urged his side to go all out for three points in their weekend clash against Sheffield Wednesday, Afrik Foot reports.

The 32-year-old has been called up by Eric Chelle for International duty during the March break despite playing just three games since the AFCON 2025 third-place game in Morocco.

Hamstring problems have troubled Ajayi since last year, but he’s looking to put his past behind him as he leads the Tigers to a strong finish in the EFL Championship play-off spot.

Super Eagles: Semi Ajayi eyeing three points vs Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday are currently bottom of the EFL Championship, and Hull are 5th, five points behind Millwall, who occupy fourth place.

Three losses in their last five games haven’t helped Sergej Jakirovic’s men in their hunt for a place in the Premier League, but Ajayi has called for the team’s focus to be on getting maximum points at the MKM Stadium on Saturday.

“One hundred per cent, there are no easy games in the Champ. We have to be on it.

“We can’t drop our levels just because of where they are in the table, because if you do that in this, in this league, you’ll get punished,” the former Arsenal defender said in quotes revealed by Hull Daily Mail.

“We have to be at the top of our game. We’ll make sure we are. I’m expecting a tough game from them. We’ll be on it, and we’ll be ready, we’ll be ready for what they have to bring.

“Absolutely, I think that’s the Championship (it’s about bouncing back quickly). You can’t win every game, you’re gonna have ups and downs, you’re gonna have blips and whatnot.

“This wasn’t our day [against West Bromwich Albion], but we have to bounce back and make sure that it is our day next week, so that’s what we’ll be looking to do.

“We’ll have a full week of training to put anything right that wasn’t right, and then we have to bounce back strong.

“We’re just taking it one game at a time. Our full focus is on Sheffield Wednesday and making sure we put things right and being at our maximum come Saturday,” the lanky centre-back concluded.
