Ex-Super Eagles star blasts ‘awful’ Spurs in North-London derby loss

Former Super Eagles and Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has weighed in on Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-4 loss to Arsenal yesterday evening, Afrik Foot reports.

Spurs have just one league win from their last 10 games, with their last victory coming in December against Crystal Palace.

Since then, they’ve lost five games and drawn five. Their poor run of form has seen them enter into a relegation battle.

Many expected Igor Tudor to inspire Spurs to at least hold Arsenal to a draw in front of their crowd, but braces from Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokeres condemned the reigning UEFA Europa League Champions to 16th on the Premier League table.

Super Eagles: Mikel Obi blasts Tottenham Hotspur in Arsenal loss

The former Eagles star praised Arsenal for bouncing back from their 2-2 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers in midweek, but maintained that Spurs were dreadful against Mikel Arteta’s men.

“Credit to Arsenal because they did everything right, and it’s great to see Eze back on the scoresheet, starting and scoring goals. He was fantastic.

“Arsenal had to win, but they played against a poor Tottenham side. Spurs were awful, terrible yesterday,” the 38-year-old said on the Obi One Podcast.

“Defensively, they were all over the gaff, all over the place. Dragusin was terrible.

“The mistakes they made on and off the ball, everything was awful to watch, and it’s good to see that the manager has come out to question the mentality of the team.

“He has to eradicate the bad attitude within the club. Tudor has got a mountain to climb with that Spurs team,” Mikel concluded.
