Super Eagles striker Onuachu on the brink of history with Trabzonspor

Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu could make some history in Trabzonspor’s clash against Besiktas this evening, Afrik Foot reports.

The 31-year-old is the leading top goalscorer in the Turkish Super Lig, and with two league games left to play, he’s the frontrunner for the Golden Boot award.

However, he’s failed to find the back of the net in his last four games across all competitions.

Paul Onuachu is on the brink of Trabzonspor history

The former Genk striker has scored 22 goals in the Turkish Super Lig this season, his last goal coming in Trabzonspor’s 2-1 defeat to Galatasaray.

However, he has to chance to etch his name into the Trabzon record books if he scores two more league goals before the end of the season.

Atletico Madrid’s Alexander Sorloth scored 24 goals in the 2019/2020 season, while Burak Yılmaz scored 23 goals in the 2017/2018 season.

Should Onuachu score two more goals this season, he’ll become the player with the most league goals for Trabzonspor in a Super Lig campaign.

As per Haberts, the Turkish club are backing Onuachu to end his goal drought, and then smash the record, in the hopes of celebrating the achievement with victory against Gençlerbirliği in the Turkish Cup final.

Trabzonspor are currently third on the Super Lig table, and two wins or losses in their final two games will not change their position.
