Super Eagles striker Peter Olayinka is rumoured to be making a sensational return to his former club, Slavia Prague, from Red Star Belgrade, barely a season after leaving the Czech side.

The striker won the double with Red Star Belgrade in what can be described as a successful season.

In the Serbian Superliga, Olayinka dazzled on the field, playing 29 games, netting eight goals, and providing four assists.

His impact extended beyond the league; although he didn't score in Red Star's five Champions League matches, his overall performance was instrumental in the team's success.

Olayinka's influence was also felt in the Serbian Cup, where he scored one goal in three games.

During the Championship Round, he found the net once in five matches, playing his part as Red Star secured the title.

His consistent excellence made him the 10th highest goal scorer of the past season, proving him a worthy acquisition.

However, news has emerged that Olayinka is unsettled in Belgrade and is looking to move back to Prague due to family reasons, despite having a contract with the club until 2026.

Although the specifics of the family issue remain unclear, Slavia Prague are open to his return, as he is highly respected within the club and the city.

During his time with Slavia Prague, the 28-year-old played 183 matches and scored 50 goals, contributing 26 assists over the four seasons he spent with the club.

Last summer, he bid goodbye to Slavia and made a free transfer to Serbian side Red Star Belgrade. However, it now seems likely he will make a return to the Czech club.

Olayinka, who has four caps for Nigeri, has been absent from national consideration lately, despite making his debut for the Super Eagles in 2019.

He was included in the Nigeria squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon in 2022, where the Super Eagles exited the tournament after a Round of 16 loss to Tunisia.
