The likes of Fulham and Crystal Palace have shown the strongest interest in signing him this summer, with talks over a possible move continuing throughout the transfer window.

Nwaiwu only joined Trabzonspor during the winter transfer window but quickly became an important part of the team. He immediately impressed and settled into the squad as if he had been playing for the club for a long time.

He was also influential in Trabzonspor’s Turkish Cup triumph, ending the season in impressive form which only increased speculation about his future.

According to recent reports from Turkey, Trabzonspor have rejected a new offer from Crystal Palace for Nwaiwu worth around €30 million.

They had previously rejected offers from Fulham for the defender and have now turned down Palace’s proposal as they continue to maintain their position on his valuation.

Trabzonspor want a fee that would set a Turkish record for the most expensive departure in the history of the league, and the club have continued to reaffirm that stance.

While Fulham have reportedly agreed personal terms with Nwaiwu, reaching an agreement with Trabzonspor remains the only major hurdle in completing the transfer.

While a move to the Premier League would surely be an exciting transfer, especially with the opportunity to play in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and alongside some of the best players, Nwaiwu could now be set for at least another season in Turkey.

His remarkable rise over the past few years has been impressive. He moved from Nigeria to Austria in 2024 when he joined Wolfsberger before making the switch to Trabzonspor, and he is now attracting interest from Premier League clubs.

However, there are certain reasons why staying at Trabzonspor could be the best option for him for now rather than making another move this summer.

One major reason is Nwaiwu’s need to continue developing while playing regularly. At 23, regular football remains important for the Super Eagles defender, and another season as a key player at Trabzonspor could help him continue his progress without having to immediately deal with the pressure of adapting to another new environment.
