Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been crowned champions of the 2026 Unity Cup after clinching a pleasant 3-0 win over Jamaica at The Valley on Saturday, Afrik-Foot reports.
The three-time African champions secured their fourth consecutive trophy at the invitational tournament after claiming two wins out of two games played. Nigeria’s previous triumph in the mini-competition came in 2002, 2004 and 2025.
The Super Eagles defeated Zimbabwe 2-0 in the semifinal and followed it with another comfortable victory in the final against the Reggae Boyz.
An excellent brace from Alhassan Yusuf and a fine Terem Moffi header were all Eric Chelle’s men needed to condemn Jamaica to another frustrating outing at the Unity Cup.

Yusuf, Azeez in the Super Eagles record books
Yusuf’s early strike in the encounter was his first for the Super Eagles since making his debut in 2024. The New England Revolution midfielder’s third-minute strike is now Nigeria’s earliest goal in the history of the Unity Cup, edging past Femi Azeez’s fourth minute opener against Zimbabwe.
Moffi doubled Nigeria’s advantage on the hour-mark for his fifth Super Eagles goal and his first for the former AFCON kings in three years.
While Azeez was disappointed he could not add to his two-goal tally, the Millwall winger, alongside Yusuf, finished as the Unity Cup 2026 top goalscorer with two goals. The duo become only the second and third Nigerians to finish as the tournament’s goal king after Bartholomew Ogbeche (three goals) in 2004.

With his three goal involvement (2 goals, 1 assist), Azeez becomes the first Super Eagles star since Ogbeche 12 years ago to contribute three or more goals at the Unity Cup.
Nigeria’s five goals at this edition equals the Super Eagles’ highest tally in the history of the tournament, a record set more than a decade ago.
Arthur Okonkwo kept clean sheets in both games Nigeria played to become only the second Super Eagles goalkeeper (after Sunday Rotimi in 2004) to do so.

Head coach Eric Chelle has extended his unbeaten record in regulation time in charge of Super Eagles to 22 games: registering 15 wins and seven draws. Chelle’s brilliant record will be put to the ultimate test in June when he leads Nigeria in friendlies against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal and Robert Lewandowski’s Poland.
The Franco-Malian tactician has now been in charge of the Super Eagles for 503 days, the third-longest single tenure of any Nigerian coach of the last 12 years. He trails only Gernot Rohr (1951 days) and Jose Peseiro (655 days).
