“He’s quality” – Super Eagles defender reacts to Victor Boniface’s Werder Bremen return

Super Eagles defender Felix Agu has expressed his delight at Victor Boniface’s return to Werder Bremen’s training, Afrik Foot reports.

The Bayer 04 Leverkusen loanee didn’t enjoy his first six months at Weser Stadion as he struggled with fitness and weight concerns.

Upon further checks, it was discovered that Boniface had damaged the cartilage in his right knee and needed surgery.

His rehabilitation period was scheduled to see him return to action next season, but his body has fast-tracked his recovery, and he could be on the pitch before the end of the month.

Agu has also had his fair share of injuries this season, having missed over 130 days of action due to an ankle problem.

However, he’s delighted his national team compatriot is back in action to help Daniel Thioune’s men in the battle against relegation.

“I’m very happy to see him here again because I get along well with him,” the Germany-born Nigerian defender said in quotes revealed by Deichstube.

“I think he still needs a bit of time to get back into the rhythm. But we all know about his quality.

“He may have just flashes in games, but in training you see it again and again. If he drops, turns up, plays passes, with incredible timing, he has great vision.

“This is simply an absolute quality! He was not without reason a mainstay in Leverkusen’s championship team.

“If Victor even gets to the level, he can help us. How much there will be this season is the question.

“It’s about him getting back to fitness to be able to help us for a while on the pitch,” the 26-year-old concluded.
