Super Eagles: Victor Osimhen lauded for passing on penalty against Fenerbahce

Published on by

Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen was back amongst the goals in his side’s 3-0 win over Fenerbahce in the Istanbul derby yesterday evening, Afrik Foot reports.

The strike was the forward’s 13th in the Turkish Super Lig this term, but that wasn’t the only good thing he did at RAMS Park last night.

In the 66th minute, Galatasaray were awarded a penalty, and the technical staff specifically instructed Osimhen to take the spot kick.

Baris Alper Yilmaz thanks Osimhen for penalty gift

Turkish winger Baris Alper Yilmaz had scored just one goal in his previous 11 games across all competitions.

After the spot kick was awarded to Galatasaray, Osimhen handed the ball to the 25-year-old, who put the ball into the bottom right corner.

After the game, Yilmaz thanked the former Napoli striker for giving him a chance to put his name on the scoresheet.

We’re so happy. I congratulate my teammates. We are doing our best to reach our 4th straight championship title.

It’s not over yet, we’re going to Samsun. I’m not the kind of kid who shies away from his responsibilities.

I want to contribute to my team. I told Osimhen how I felt, we had our names on the penalty, and he told me to go for it.

“He’s a very valuable player. It adds a lot to us,” the Turkiye International said in quotes revealed by Galatasaray’s official website.

Galatasaray will be crowned Turkish Super Lig Champions if they secure a win against Samsunspor next Saturday.
