Super Eagles: Why Victor Osimhen’s Kasimpasa return might not go as planned

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is currently sidelined with an injury at Galatasaray, but his return appears imminent, Afrik-Foot reports.

The striker suffered the injury during a match against Başakşehir two weeks before the international break.

That ruled him out of Galatasaray’s opening Champions League fixture and Nigeria’s international matches. While he was initially included in Nigeria’s official squad list, he was later withdrawn due to the setback.

In recent weeks, expectations have grown that he will return to action immediately after the international break. He appears firmly on track to do so, having been spotted moving freely while visiting Nigeria during the window.

Osimhen is lined up to return to action for Galatasaray next weekend when the Cimbom take on Kasımpaşa in the Süper Lig. However, his comeback might not unfold quite as fans expect.

The Victor Osimhen Twist Galatasaray Might Deploy

Although Osimhen is set to return to action for Galatasaray next weekend, the club might decide to start him on the bench.

This decision might not even come down to his fitness, but rather Galatasaray’s desire to keep him fresh and fully primed when they face Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League on October 13.

That fixture is a massive test for the Cimbom and easily their toughest challenge of the season so far.

Barcelona have arguably been the best team in Europe this term, scoring goals at will. Galatasaray will therefore need their key players at full strength if they are to stand any chance of getting a result.

Consequently, Osimhen’s minutes will be carefully managed against Kasımpaşa. Having scored against Barcelona in the past, the Super Eagles star will carry that psychological edge into the clash.
