Super Eagles transfer news: What must happen before Wilfred Ndidi can leave Besiktas

Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi could be on his way out of Turkish giants Besiktas this summer as interest in his services continues to grow, Afrik-Foot reports.

The 29-year-old has been the subject of transfer speculation throughout the summer, with uncertainty surrounding whether he will remain at the club beyond the current transfer window.

Ndidi only joined Besiktas from Leicester City last summer and enjoyed an impressive debut campaign. However, despite settling in quickly, he could already be heading for another move.

The Nigerian midfielder made 31 appearances for the Black Eagles last season and established himself as one of the team’s leaders, going on to wear the captain’s armband on several occasions.

Although Ndidi is open to staying at Besiktas, he would also be willing to consider a move elsewhere if the right opportunity presents itself and the club’s conditions are met.

Key condition before Ndidi can leave Besiktas this summer

The Super Eagles midfielder has been linked with several clubs across Europe and the Middle East, with interest in him continuing to gather pace as the transfer window progresses.

Despite the growing speculation, Besiktas chief Onder Ozen has confirmed that the club have not yet received an official offer for the experienced midfielder.

“There is interest from Saudi Arabia in Ndidi. However, no official written offer has yet arrived”, he said, via Tribal Football.

Ozen also made it clear that Besiktas are not ruling out a sale. According to him, the club will consider letting Ndidi leave if a suitable offer arrives.

“If one comes, we will evaluate it.”

Where could the Super Eagles star end up?

Besiktas reportedly value Ndidi at around €10 million and are only willing to entertain offers in that region. 

Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad are among the clubs monitoring the Super Eagles captain. They are looking for a replacement for Fabinho and Ndidi is seen as a player capable of filling that role.

Al Ittihad had previously attempted to sign Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika but were unsuccessful. As a result, Ndidi has emerged as a more available and less expensive alternative.

Another Saudi club, Al Diriyah, are also interested in signing the Super Eagles captain. The newly promoted side are keen to strengthen their squad as they aim to secure their top-flight status and avoid an immediate return to the lower division.

Manchester United have also shown interest in signing the 29-year-old this summer. The Premier League club are still looking to reinforce their midfield after missing out on several transfer targets earlier in the window. 

Besiktas hold the key to any potential transfer and unless a club submits an offer that matches their valuation, Ndidi is expected to remain in Istanbul. If that condition is met, the Super Eagles captain could be set to begin the next chapter of his career.
