Super Falcons and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Jennifer Onyinye Echegini has sent a cheeky message to the Nigerian Football Federation as they prepare for the WAFCON tournament, Afrik Foot reports.
The 24-year-old was a vital part of the Nigerian team that secured the WAFCON 2024 title in Morocco, scoring the winner against the hosts as the Super Falcons won dramatically, overturning a two-goal deficit.
Winning the WAFCON for a record tenth time led to a plethora of promises made by the Nigerian government to the players, some of which have not been fulfilled, some nine months later.
The WAFCON 2026 tournament was scheduled to start on the 17th of March in Morocco, but it appears a postponement is in the works, although there has been no official announcement from CAF so far.

Super Falcons: Echegini throws subtle shade at the NFF
Former Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum was very vocal about the lackadaisical attitude of the Nigerian federation when it came to the organisation and preparation of the players towards International tournaments.
Camping issues and funding were the Americans’ greatest concerns, and now, under Madugu, the players have caught on.
The former Juventus winger has highlighted the need for an improvement to how the Super Falcons approach tournaments, echoing Ashleigh Plumptre’s thoughts after the victory last time out.
“Preparation time is very limited. You have to be very careful with how well you prepare for things,” the former Arsenal midfielder said in an interview with the Guardian’s Osasuo Obayiuwana.

“Last year, we didn’t prepare as much as we wanted, but we still won. We are a team, regardless of the obstacles thrown at us or the lack of preparation, which always prevails in the end.
“We need to prepare very well [Ahead of the World Cup]. We need to figure some things out, so we can be better.
“When you compete with teams that have all these facilities and, essentially, their lives are easier, you’re already at a disadvantage.

“I’m not somebody who wants to complain, because, at the end of the day, football is football.
“But you have to put your team in the best position to compete. I hope we are able to utilise every camp window, so we can be as strong as we can,” Echegini concluded.
The Super Falcons will take on Cameroon today in a friendly clash as they prepare for the WAFCON 2026 tournament.
