Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre has been nominated for the Saudi League goal of the month award. The 25 year old joined Al Ittihad in September, after spending three years with childhood club Leicester City.
Interestingly, in six appearances for the Saudi club across all competitions, Plumptre found the back of the net six times; which is an impressive feat for a center back. It's even more fascinating considering the Super Falcons player has scored two hat-tricks since she made the switch to Al Ittihad.
It's also worth noting that Plumptre registered three goals in Al Ittihad's 6-2 victory over Al Ahly on 16th December, and her second goal in that game made the shortlist.
The former Leicester player is setting her sights on a spot at the Summer Olympics in Paris next year with the Super Falcons. Although she's averaging a goal per game for Al Ittihad, Plumptre has not scored in 15 appearances for Nigeria's women's national team.
Two other players were nominated for December's goal of the year award. This includes Tanzania's Clara Luvanga, who plays for Al Nassr, and Veronica Raquel Perez, who plies her trade with Al Qadsiah.
