Tolu Arokodare: Why Fenerbahce might abandon Galatasaray in hunt for Super Eagles star

Turkish Süper Lig club Fenerbahçe might abandon their pursuit of Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare this summer, Afrik-foot reports.

In the last few months, Arokodare has been the subject of several transfer discussions.

There has been speculation that he could be on his way to Turkey, following a disappointing campaign with Wolves in the Premier League.

Beşiktaş, Galatasaray, and Fenerbahçe have been touted as potential destinations.

These clubs are looking to fortify their squads this summer, and given his impressive track record in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, they believe he could be a valuable addition.

However, none of them has made progress yet, and now, Fenerbahçe might pull out of the race.

According to a report by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Fenerbahçe is seriously interested in signing Robert Lewandowski as a free agent.

The 37-year-old striker is coming off a four-year stint at Barcelona that saw him contribute 120 goals and 24 assists in 193 appearances. He is one of the most prolific strikers of all time, with an impressive record of 629 goals and 159 assists in 869 games.

Lewandowski, who appears keen on staying in Europe, would definitely fancy a transfer to a historic club like Fenerbahçe. The club would also not have to pay a transfer fee since he is a free agent.

If the Polish striker agrees to the deal, Fenerbahçe would get a significant boost in their attacking department.

Also, it would likely signal the end of their interest in signing Arokodare from Wolves due to the other options the club is exploring.

Nonetheless, that would create an opportunity for other clubs to swoop in for the Nigerian striker.
