Unsettled Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface will remain at Bayer Leverkusen after his latest transfer collapse, with the former Bundesliga champions insisting the 24-year-old still has a future at the club.
The 24-year-old's status has become uncertain following two failed moves in the space of eight months.
Most recently, a loan to AC Milan broke down after medical checks raised concerns over Boniface’s right knee, which has twice suffered cruciate ligament damage. The setback leaves him back at Leverkusen, where his contract runs until 2028.

Victor Boniface: Fragile giant with a point to prove
The former Royale Union Saint-Gilloise striker is no longer a guaranteed starter and has slipped to third choice in the pecking order, a stark contrast to the impact he made when he stormed into the Bundesliga two seasons ago.

His career so far has been defined by brilliance on the pitch and frustration off it. With his mix of strength, technique and work rate, Boniface was central to Leverkusen’s 2024 double, but recurring injuries have halted his momentum. Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport captured it sharply, calling him “the fragile giant.”
Still, Leverkusen are not closing the door on him. Sporting director Simon Rolfes has praised Boniface's professionalism, stressing there are no disciplinary issues.
“Boni has behaved sensibly now too. That’s definitely not a problem, but he needs to get into physical shape so he’s at 100 percent,” Rolfes told BILD.
