Victor Boniface transfer dossier: Release clause, asking price, salary demands & likely destinations ranked

Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface might be a man on the move this summer, with some clubs already looking to sign him.

Despite a relatively underwhelming season – unlike his debut campaign for Bayer Leverkusen, he is still a wanted man.

This season, Boniface has played 19 games in the Bundesliga, scoring eight goals and providing two assists. In the UEFA Champions League, he featured four times and scored one goal.

In total, this term, he has featured 27 times, scoring 11 goals and providing two assists – not a bad return despite a red-flag season.

Does Victor Boniface have a release clause?

No, Victor Boniface does not have a release clause in his contract with Bayer Leverkusen.

Victor Boniface’s current club: Can Bayer Leverkusen keep him?

Boniface still has a running contract with Leverkusen until June 2028, so yes, they can elect to keep him and see his contract run out.

However, they may look to cash in on a player who has seen a dip in form and has also lost his place in the starting eleven at Bayer Leverkusen.

What is Bayer Leverkusen’s asking price for Victor Boniface?

Currently valued at €45 million by Transfermarkt, it is understood that Leverkusen – who bought Boniface from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise for €20 million – will demand €75 million for the Nigerian striker.

Not many European clubs can afford that price, which will put Saudi clubs on high alert.

Are Victor Boniface's salary demands a stumbling block?

The Nigerian’s salary at Leverkusen, as revealed by Capology, is around €38,462 per week, and an annual salary of €2,000,000 excluding bonuses.

He will expect to earn a little above the same salary if he eventually moves to another club.

Which clubs have been linked with Victor Boniface?

In the last transfer window, Boniface nearly made the switch to Saudi side Al Nassr, but it fell through at the last minute. It is reported that the club will be back for the striker in the next transfer season.

There is also interest from England, with Newcastle United said to have their sights on the 24-year-old. Serie A side Juventus are also considering Boniface and have reportedly been monitoring the striker since last season.

His coach at Leverkusen, Xabi Alonso, is rumoured to be headed to Real Madrid after deciding to leave the German side. Though a long shot, he might be tempted to take Boniface along with him to Madrid.

Which club has the best chance of signing Victor Boniface?

Al Nassr (Saudi Arabia) – 50 percent

It is expected that Al Nassr will be back for Boniface at the end of the season after a disappointing campaign in the Asian Champions League and the Saudi Super League.

Money will not be a problem for them, and Boniface — who was interested in the initial attempt to take him to Saudi Arabia — will not reject the proposal.

Newcastle (England) – 40 percent

With Champions League football on the horizon, Newcastle will be interested in improving their forward line and have already made inquiries about the Nigerian.

Though he said he is not a fan of the Premier League, Boniface – if the price is right – might be tempted to chase European football with Newcastle.

Juventus (Italy) – 30 percent

With the expected departure of Dušan Vlahović from the club this summer, Juventus will be on the lookout for a new forward.

Boniface fits the profile of a big, strong, and technically sound forward.

However, the asking price might be a stumbling block to a move to the ‘Old Lady’.
