The future of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen continues to generate a lot of interest, with revelations emerging round the clock.
The 25-year-old striker has been one of the most coveted players in the transfer market, attracting interest from top clubs across Europe and beyond.
Over the past few months, he has been linked with a host of elite teams including Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli.
Despite Osimhen's keen interest in moving to the Premier League, none of the interested English clubs were willing to meet the Nigeria international's release clause of €130 million.
According to Italian journalist Carlo Landoni, Arsenal were closest to lodging an official bid Osimhen, but had their interest rebuffed out of hand.
Arsenal offer for Victor Osimhen: How much was it?
According to Landoni as per Area Napoli, Arsenal were prepared to present Napoli with an offer of €70 million, which reportedly did not even warrant consideration as it was way below Napoli's asking price for the Nigerian striker.
Osimhen is now reported to have agreed in principle to join PSG, as indicated by Fabrizio Romano.
PSG continues its quest for a successor to former star Kylian Mbappe, who has left for Real Madrid.
Initially, the club explored the option of recruiting Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli both individually and as part of a double swoop. However, more recent reports are to the effect that, aside from the Osimhen price, there is another major obstruction to the French club's pursuit of the Nigeria international.
