Victor Osimhen: 4 reasons Juventus are favourites to sign Galatasaray star in 2027

Published on by

Victor Osimhen could be heading back to Italy in 2027, with Juventus the likeliest destination for the Galatasaray striker should he decide to return to Serie A.

Despite spending the last two years in the less-fancied Turkish Super Lig, the Super Eagles forward remains one of the most sought-after forwards in the European football circuit.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid were just a few of the clubs credited with interest in Osimhen this summer. However, the Nigerian striker stayed back at Galatasaray as he continues to lead the club’s charge on the domestic and continental fronts.

Interestingly though, 2027 could be the year Osimhen leaves the Turkish champions as he has never spent more than three seasons at a club.

Juventus could, therefore, jump ahead of the queue of clubs looking to sign the 27-year-old, with I Bianconeri boasting several advantages in the race for his signature.

Here are four reasons the Turin giants could be well placed to pursue Osimhen in 2027.

Reasons Victor Osimhen could join Juventus in 2027

1. Napoli’s anti-Serie A clause could expire

One of the biggest obstacles to Victor Osimhen’s return to Italian football is the reported financial penalty attached to his permanent move from Napoli to Galatasaray.

According to the terms outlined in reports surrounding the transfer, Galatasaray would face a substantial penalty if they sold the Nigerian to an Italian club before the restriction expired.

The reported fee falls from €70 million in 2026 to €50 million in early 2027, before the clause expires on June 30, 2027.

If those terms are accurate, Juventus could have a clearer route to signing the striker after that date, without the additional financial burden associated with Napoli’s agreement.

Next summer thus presents Juventus with the biggest chance to sign Africa’s most valuable centre-forward.

2. Spalletti could reunite with his former striker

Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti could play a major role in determining Osimhen’s future.

The Italian coach worked with the Nigerian at Napoli, where they helped the club win the Serie A title in 2022/23, ending a 33-year wait for the Scudetto.

Victor Osimhen flourished under Spalletti, using his pace, movement and finishing to become one of the division’s outstanding forwards.

A reunion in Turin could offer both men an opportunity to recreate that success.

Osimhen has also expressed admiration for Juventus, making a potential move particularly intriguing. However, mutual interest would still need to translate into a concrete transfer proposal.

3. Juventus could need a new No. 9

Juventus’ attacking plans could also influence their pursuit of the Galatasaray star.

With the departure of Dušan Vlahović and Randal Kolo Muani yet to consistently deliver the expected impact, the Italian giants could look for a more reliable goalscoring option.

No longer wanted in Barcelona, Osimhen would offer Juventus a proven centre-forward capable of leading the line, stretching defences and converting chances in high-pressure matches.

His experience in Serie A would also reduce the uncertainty that often accompanies signing a striker from another league.

4. Juventus need a goalscoring boost

Juventus’ performances in the 2026/27 campaign could also be a key factor in the club’s potential investment in a squad rebuild next summer. The team finished sixth last season and Spalletti’s men do not look capable of improving on that metric this term.

The Bianconeri have collected three wins, two draws and two defeats from their opening seven Serie A matches, scoring just nine goals in that period.

Their problems were exposed again in a 3-0 defeat to Lazio in Turin, with Nigerian midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru among the players involved in Lazio’s impressive performance.

Adding Osimhen, a big success on and off the pitch at Galatasaray, could give Juventus the cutting edge they have been missing. His goalscoring instincts, physical presence and ability to threaten defenders in behind could transform their attack and strengthen their push for the Scudetto.

Juventus have not won the Italian championship since 2020, and signing a striker of Osimhen’s calibre could represent a major step towards ending that drought.
