Where Victor Osimhen ranks among Lille’s youngest Champions League scorers

Published on by

Victor Osimhen has dropped down the list of Lille’s youngest UEFA Champions League goalscorers after Soriba Diaoune made history against Galatasaray on Wednesday night.

The 19-year-old winger scored twice in the first half of Lille’s ongoing Champions League clash, becoming the youngest player to score for the French club in the competition.

Before kick-off, Osimhen occupied third place on the list after scoring against Chelsea on October 2, 2019, at the age of 20 years, nine months and three days.

However, Diaoune’s breakthrough performance has pushed the former Lille striker further down the rankings.

Diaoune breaks Lille record as Osimhen drops down rankings

Diaoune, born on August 14, 2007, opened his account in the seventh minute to respond to Yunus Akgün’s early goal for Galatasaray.

He struck again in the 39th minute, finishing superbly into the top-right corner after receiving a pass from Hákon Haraldsson.

With that first goal, he surpassed Ngal’ayel Mukau’s previous record of 20 years and 24 days, established against Bologna on November 27, 2024.

Victor Osimhen also scored on the night, with his second-half finish sealing a 4-2 win for Galatasaray. The goal is his first Champions League strike of the season and the first time he would score against a club he previously played for.
