WAFCON 2025: Super Falcons enraged by standard of accommodation in Morocco

Published on by

Three days out from kicking off their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign, Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has dropped a review of the team’s lodgings.

Nigeria will play their three Group B matches in Casablanca, beginning with Tunisia on July 6, before subsequent matches against Algeria and Botswana. If, as expected, they win the group, the nine-time African champions will remain in the city for their quarter-final clash.

However, if Ajibade’s review is anything to go by, the Super Falcons will have to come through some discomfort in their bid for a 10th WAFCON crown.

‘Kitchen size’ – Ajibade unimpressed with WAFCON hotel

In a post on social media, the former Atletico Madrid midfielder bemoaned the cramped lodgings, which the players are sharing in pairs, comparing it to a kitchen.

Her use of the hashtag #Respectwomensfootball betrayed the belief of the Super Falcons midfielder that this is not a harmless oversight, but rather a symptom of the disdain Africa’s football authorities have for the women’s game.

Neither CAF nor the host nation have responded to the complaint, but they will be far from pleased with such negative publicity on the eve of the WAFCON.
